Statement of Intent
GRENADE’S 20th year calls for a celebration!
"How do we celebrate 20 years together in an original way without proposing a repetition of what we have already invented?
The idea germinated slowly, and then it came to me: “provide all the dancers of Grenade, large and small, to choreographers who would like to restage or expand their creative repertoire”.
Some names were a given: Jean-Claude Gallotta, Angelin Preljocaj, Jean-Christophe Maillot, Michel Kélémenis, Philippe Découflé, and Abou Lagraa…
And it was with great simplicity that all of them said yes to the project.
We were ready to begin organizing the evening: some taking the smaller kids, others taking the teenagers, and others taking the dancers of the Company.
Then I wanted to include mischievous and offbeat short pieces into this composition, hence the idea to ask Jérôme Bel to participate in the project.
Another positive response that filled us with joy!
The evening is currently being planned : a creation for November 2011 at the Grand Théâtre de Provence, integrating the entire troupe of Grenade (68 dancers), which will probably be restaged at the Théâtre des Salins in Martigues, and then a tour will be scheduled with around twenty five dancers to perform the entire piece.
