Statement of Intent
On n'est plus des Anges (We're not angels anymore)
"More than in any other stage of life, adolescence is a period of hyper-consciousness. Oscillating between the poetic ideal of childhood and the disillusionment of adulthood, young people take the full impact of the inconsistency of our society. Their nerves raw, they intensely feel the uneasiness, injustice and suffering inherent in our world. They dream of an alternative society where dreams meet reality, where folly mixes with grace, where daily life bursts beyond the images. Performed by the 21 oldest dancers of the Groupe Grenade, «On n’est Plus des Anges» is a profoundly contemporary piece in which rage, violence, seizures are evoked by disordered movements, wandering and despair. The musical contribution by the band “Muse” supports the treatment of these phases by its moving and decadent lyricism, with the constant and despite everything, vital progression toward a hope of building, of life and of love.”
